Giving Yourself Some Homemaking Grace

Giving Yourself Some Homemaking Grace

We've all been there. You're doing your best to keep up with the laundry, the dishes, the vacuuming. You'd love to make a homemade meal but you're just too tired. The house is a mess and you feel like a failure. sound familiar? I want to let you in on a little secret... it's not just you. We've all been there. The key is to give yourself some grace.

Let's face it, homemaking is hard work. It's a full-time job, and sometimes it feels like we're never going to get ahead. The important thing to remember is that we're not perfect and our homes don't have to be either. Just because that Pinterest mom seems to have it all together doesn't mean that she actually does.

Here are a few tips for giving yourself some homemaking grace:

1) Set realistic expectations for yourself. Let's be honest, the laundry isn't going to do itself and those dishes aren't going to wash themselves. But that doesn't mean that your house has to be perfect all the time. Give yourself some grace and know that it's okay if things aren't perfect all the time.
2) Take some time for yourself. One of the quickest ways to burnout is by trying to do everything all at once and never taking a break. Make sure to schedule some time for yourself every day, even if it's just 15 minutes. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
3) Reach out for help when you need it. Whether it's hiring a cleaning service or asking your significant other to pitch in more around the house, don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We can't do everything on our own and that's okay!

Homemaking is hard work but that doesn't mean we have to do it all alone. By setting realistic expectations, taking some time for ourselves, and reaching out for help when we need it, we can give ourselves some much needed homemaking grace!
