If you've followed our journey, you know we bought our property in September, and haven't even officially finished "moving in" yet. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll see our progress has been slow, but we have been getting it done. There's always just so much to do. It's just still not done. But that's okay.
I sat down and had a chat with myself last week and decided to put the pedal to the metal and give myself a deadline. As homemakers, sometimes we need to have that bossy chat with ourselves.
I work well with deadlines.
Most of the things we need to do take a fraction of the time we actually take to do them. Ever have someone call and say they are coming over? You achieve the same amount you would have while mosying around the house listening to a podcast. In a fraction of the time.
Deadlines work. At least for me. I also do better when I know others know my expectations.
Do you know what makes you tick? It is amazing how we can change the way we approach simple tasks by knowing what motivates us. I found the Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin extremely helpful in learning about what I need to do to succeed in anything I do. I would love to know what tendencies you lean towards! So, Monday morning at 9 am our home tour will be up on YouTube. Here's a quick sneak peek at two of my favorite places in our home.
It's Wednesday. I have A LOT to get done before then. But... Whatever isn't done, is what it is. If you saw our property tour, you know we have a lot of work to do on our 12 Acre Wonderland. That plus all of the work to move in and make this our home has been a lot.
But, I can see the light. And that excites me.
I am most excited about being able to get into a routine and using the rooms we have in our home for more than just storage.
And I can't wait to be able to share our home projects as we start to make this house our home.
And the coop needs to get done... I am officially past my deadline.
But! I also have to get Spring Cleaning done. This is a habit I want to create and continue. We have only been here 6 months, and we have the perfect opportunity to maintain our home.
I will be starting a Spring Cleaning series as I go through our home and hit the areas that get missed on a regular basis.
In the meantime, if you're ready to get your daily cleaning routine under control, check out this FREE printable checklist!
It's the routine that changed my home from being overwhelming to manageable in just a couple of weeks! And helped me feel like our home was tidy while we managed all of the moving stuff.. This basic routine is perfect for any transitional stage of life when things get overwhelming.
Being our first year in our home, I am working on my new cleaning master list. I can't wait to share it with you when it's done!
